Little Details Portrait Series

“I see in them little details so specific to each of them that move me and that I miss, and...will always miss. You can never replace anyone, because everyone is made of such beautiful specific details”

‘Little Details’ is a project inspired by this dialogue from one of my favourite films – Before Sunset by Richard Linklater. In the third act of the film, the leading woman, Celine is talking to Jesse, a man she loves but had lost touch with for 9 years. She talks about the details and characteristics she missed about him over the years.

This resonated with me because of my own way of remembering the people I love. When we have spent time with someone we care about, these details get imprinted in our memories and they are unique to our way of seeing them– something different from how they are, how they see themselves, and how others might see them.

With this photo series, I am attempting to capture the little physical idiosyncrasies of the people in my life. For me, the beauty these people hold is hidden in the little details.
